Sarawak Holidays
The Malaysian state of Sarawak is a culturally rich and diverse place which has a lot of natural wonders. The state is covered in rainforest where large parts are protected and saved as national parks. Here you will find all types of wildlife including the protected Hornbill and proboscis monkeys. On the coast are clear waters and untouched coral reefs which make the perfect dive location.
About Sarawak
Sarawak is the largest state in Malaysia and it lies on the island of Borneo in the South China Sea. The Dayak tribes which occupy the state still live in communal longhouses and openly welcome visitors to stay overnight. Sarawak has a large mix of peoples with the Iban’s accounting for fewer than 30 percent. The Iban’s gained a reputation as being the fiercest head hunters in Borneo, thankfully headhunting is no longer allowed.
The official language of Sarawak is Malay but English and some Chinese dialects are spoken. With great beaches in the north and pristine coral reef the waters in the north are the place to go. In Sarawak you will never be far from a national park where you will find the true beauty of this state. Filled with dense rainforest, caves amongst the rocky outcrops, cascading waterfalls and the sounds of wildlife the parks are an important part of Sarawak.
